Professional Statement

My motivation to pursue this field stems from a childhood influence. Our next-door neighbor was a social worker, and I remember her as a kind, warm person who always had an ear to listen. At the age of 13, I decided I wanted to enter the same profession. When I work with clients, I strive to provide that same warmth and security, allowing them to share their life experiences openly. I believe the patient-therapist relationship is crucial to effective therapy.

Many individuals struggle with life in general, feeling overwhelmed and challenged in numerous ways. They often feel out of touch with themselves and lack a sense of purpose. Additionally, many are dealing with anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma.

I believe there is great power in being heard. This can lead to a better understanding of oneself, the ability to change, and the gift of acceptance.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want my clients to know that I am very holistic in my approach and believe that each area of life self, community, spirituality, nutrition, work, intellectual, and purpose.) are crucial parts of who we are and all have a hand in a person's overall well-being. I will provide my clients with a safe space to explore feelings and life experiences and feel heard and supported.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to spend some time getting to know my clients, what their day to day life is like, and how their emotional state is affecting their life. I also think it's fair to allow them to ask me questions about my professional approach. After I have a thorough understanding of these things, I feel that the "talking" part of therapy needs to be matched with an agreement from the client that they are willing to actively engage in the process and ready to do the necessary "homework" that we will discuss together. I want each of my clients to feel empowered as we work through their areas of struggle. I am here to listen, offer feedback and knowledge, suggestions when appropriate, direction toward insight, and encourage each client along their healing journal. I believe in encouraging my clients to monitor their progress so they have the opportunity to recognize and internalize the change that occurs.
