We are a sliding scale practice the strives to help and be affordable. Student rates are generally $20 to $30 per session. We specialize in trauma and PTSD, but also work with depression, anxiety, stress, anger, and relationship issues.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like your emotions are running the show, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I work with adults who are navigating stress, difficult experiences, and emotions that can make everyday life feel heavier than it should. You might feel like you should be coping better, but something keeps getting in the way. Therapy is a space where we slow things down, make sense of patterns, and build practical skills that actually work in real life. My approach is collaborative, practical, and supportive. I draw from DBT, CBT, trauma-informed, and person-centered therapy, but I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all treatment. I focus on emotional regulation, self-compassion, and helping you feel more grounded and in control without asking you to be perfect. I approach my work with a balance of clinical expertise and lived understanding, always guided by what best supports my clients. Having been on both sides of the therapeutic space, I value creating an environment that feels safe, affirming, and human.
Hardworking, ambitious, fucking exhausted. I work with women (18–30) who look like they have it together but are absolutely depleting themselves to stay that way. They’re responsible, creative, used to handling a lot…but they’re tired of overthinking, second-guessing, or feeling like no matter how hard they work, it’s never enough. Some have anxiety, depression, ADHD, or trauma histories. Others just know something feels off, that life feels heavier than it should. Often, they’re great at coping on the outside, which can make it hard to admit they’re struggling at all. But let’s be honest: Appearing “fine” is a full-time job. In therapy, we slow things down on purpose. We look at the patterns you’ve been stuck in — people-pleasing, avoidance, self-criticism — and figure out what’s actually driving them. We work with your nervous system instead of fighting against it. We build practical tools that help you move forward in your life. My style is warm, direct, & honest. I care deeply about my clients and will absolutely challenge you when it matters. I use EMDR, ACT, & DBT skills in ways that are personal and actually useful.
At Oconee Counseling, I specialize in working with college students who are navigating big transitions, anxiety, identity questions, and career uncertainty. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure of who you’re becoming, I offer a space to slow down, sort things out, and start making sense of what matters most. My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy—because you’re not a one-size-fits-all person. I’ll help you explore your strengths, your story, and your next steps in a way that feels grounding and real. If you’re someone who thinks deeply, wants to grow, and could use some support figuring out your path, we might be a great fit.
My name is Shannon (she/her), and I came into this field, as many mental health professionals do, in response to my own inner demons and trauma. I have a passion for women’s issues, the queer population, and folx affected by sexual trauma and domestic violence. I am a single mom with two small kids, two cats, and a rambunctious dog, so needless to say I understand the strain of trying to balance a busy life. My approach to therapy is grounded in CBT and feminist therapy, with a few sprinkles of radical acceptance and dark humor. I am also a firm believer that my client is the expert on their own life, and I am happy to adjust my styles and/or make more appropriate referrals when I am not the right fit.
I work with a variety of presenting issues including self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidality, trauma, prenatal and postnatal issues, relationship issues, social anxiety, and emotional regulation (DBT).

I believe that mental health is a journey of piecing together multiple working parts, and I hope to be a part of that process with you. About Me I hold a PhD in Social Work and I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving the states of Georgia and Maryland. I received my PhD from the University of Alabama, my MSW from the University of Georgia, and BA from The University of Alabama. I have multiple years of clinical experience among various populations (children, teens, families, and young adults), various backgrounds, and in numerous settings (residential, inpatient, outpatient, private practice). I primarily work with ages 6-25. I also currently hold an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Social Work. I am someone with whom people generally feel at ease and comfortable, which is an important part of what makes therapy work. My initial goal within the therapeutic relationship is to provide you with just that: a positive, safe, and comfortable place, where you feel at ease to talk about things that matter to you. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my pets, finding challenging hikes, cooking/baking, going to the beach/finding water, gardening, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy picking up new creative projects and DIYs! Who I Help & What I Help With Who I Can Help Children (6-12) Teens (13-17) Emerging & Young Adults (18-29) What I Can Help With Relationship issues or losing a relationship Adjusting to and navigating life transitions Improving unhealthy/disruptive habits and behaviors Feeling sad or depressed Trauma and loss Feeling overwhelmed or anxious Feeling alone or disconnected from others Experiencing stress at work, school, or home Conflict resolution Learning to value and love yourself My Approach Types of Therapies It’s not uncommon for someone to enter therapy a bit nervous and with no clear sense of where to start – they simply want things to change for the better and to feel like themselves again. You are the expert of your own experience, but it’s easy to lose your way and feel lost when in distress. I will meet you wherever you are and help you piece things back to a sense of what normal feels like for you. The best approach is one that works for you, so I may draw on several different approaches to therapy, all of which have been shown by research to help individuals reduce stress, gain clarity, and make changes in their lives. They include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Person-Centered Therapy Narrative Therapy Culturally Sensitive Therapy Services & Payment At this time, all sessions will be remote/virtual video sessions and take place through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. This is a great option for accessibility and flexibility, but please be sure to first, consider whether this is the most appropriate option for you at this time. How to Get Started *Ready to get started? Just head to the “Contact Me” tab or the “book appointment” link at the bottom of every page of this website. You can schedule your first appointment on your own and whenever you’re ready with no initial contact required. Please note that I am committed to your privacy. Therefore, please do not include confidential or private information if you choose to email or call. Further and more detailed information will be exchanged through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. I look forward to speaking with you! Types of Sessions Visits with me typically involve the following types of sessions: Intake Session: Assessment & Planning (60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $175) It’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist. For this reason, the first session serves to help you and me decide whether the therapeutic relationship will be the best fit. The intake is also an Assessment and Planning phase, which is focused on learning more in depth about you, your history, and what brings you to therapy. This phase also allows me to begin putting together a plan for future sessions if you are comfortable with moving forward. All follow up sessions after the initial intake session will be considered a regular therapy session. Regular Individual Therapy Session (30-60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $90-$160) Following the Assessment and Planning phase, we’ll decide when and how often to meet. Session time frames depend on your treatment needs and personal circumstances and are guided by the plan we develop together. Please note that 30-minute sessions are private pay only. These sessions may work well for children and adolescents, day-to-day check-ins, more solution-focused sessions, quicker access to therapy, etc. Regular Family Therapy Session With Client (30 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $135, Private Pay Only) When needed, family sessions provide an opportunity to strengthen communication, address relational dynamics, and support your child or adolescent’s progress in treatment. These sessions may include parents/guardians, caregivers, and/or siblings depending on the goals we establish together. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Brief Family Therapy Session Without Client (15 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $45, Private Pay Only) These brief check-ins offer a dedicated space for parents and caregivers to share observations, ask questions, and stay connected to their child’s therapeutic progress without the client present. They are not a replacement for regular family sessions but rather, serve as a lightweight touchpoint between sessions when needed. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Payment Options In-Network Insurance & Third-Party Payers I currently accept the following insurance plans in Georgia: Aetna Cigna/Evernorth United Healthcare/UBH/Optum Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans I currently accept the following insurance plans in Maryland: Aetna Cigna/Evernorth United Healthcare/UBH/Optum Medicaid/Carelon Behavioral Health Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans This means that if you are enrolled in any of these plans (or potentially any of their subsidiaries), your out-of-pocket expense is limited to your deductible and copay/coinsurance. While I can assist in determining what these costs will be, it may be helpful to ask your insurance provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 2. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *I am currently working to become a provider in network with Anthem as well as any applicable subsidiaries under Anthem in the state of Georgia. I am also currently working to become a provider in network with CareFirst as well as any applicable subsidiaries under CareFirst in the state of Maryland. Private Pay & Out-of-Network Reimbursement I also accept private pay, and if you have another insurance provider, you may also have out-of-network benefits. With this option, your insurance benefits may reimburse the majority of the cost of therapy. With both private pay and out-of-network reimbursement, you will be provided with automatic invoices, statements, and superbills for any needed reimbursements later from your insurance provider. I recommend calling your insurance provider to learn more about how reimbursement works. It may be helpful to ask your provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. Does my plan provide out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services? 2. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 3. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *Lack of insurance coverage, privacy concerns, flexibility, and quicker access to care are only a few of the reasons why one might choose this option. Cancellation Policy All clients are required to have an active credit/debit card on file at the time of scheduling an appointment. For appointment no-shows, last-minute cancellations, or inactive insurance, you will be charged in full regardless of reason. This is necessary, as a time commitment is made and held exclusively for you. You may still apply this fee to future appointments/copays. Contact Me Ready to get started? Being in college while navigating the waves of life can sometimes take it's toll. It can be heavy trying to hold it all together, the grades, the relationships, the pressure to figure out who you are and what you're doing here all at once. If you're the one who looks like you are handling things well on the outside while quietly carrying more than anyone knows, you're in the right place. At Sacred Ease Therapy, I work with caretakers, and deep feelers who are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, chronic illness and the kind of transitions that don't come with a roadmap. My approach is relational, whole-person, and grounded in the belief that rest and connection aren't rewards you earn after you've done enough and they're things you deserve right now. Therapy here isn't about fixing what's wrong with you. It's about making space for who you already are and who you're becoming. I offer virtual sessions across Georgia, which means you can access support from wherever you are. Sliding scale and reduced-fee options are available.

My goal as a counselor is to help others UNLEARN how to be their own worst enemies. Perhaps you're feeling so low or worry so much that it doesn't seem like you are fully living life anymore. Maybe your self-esteem is low, and you've lost sight of what makes you a beautiful being. I aim to meet a client where they are and understand how they view themselves and the world. Then can change begin to occur. I help clients learn to better understand themselves and introduce skills that can help them cope with the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings they experience. I bring fun into the therapy process by incorporating activities, art and the client's creativity in session. Counseling is tailored to fit each client's needs and I welcome input from my clients. I welcome clients of all ages and backgrounds. Please feel free to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey with you.
At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, we work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain—even if everything looks “fine” on the outside. Many of the students we support are balancing classes, work, family expectations, relationships, and the pressure to figure out their future, all at the same time. You may be experiencing constant stress, anxiety that makes it hard to focus, low confidence, or feeling stuck in your own head. Some students come to us feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. Others are navigating depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and support is available. Our practice is built on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where students can openly talk about what they’re going through without feeling rushed, labeled, or misunderstood. We focus on meeting you where you are and tailoring care to your individual needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, counseling is a collaborative process. We believe progress happens best when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their growth. Our clinicians work alongside students to build practical coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and strengthen confidence in both academic and personal areas of life. Using a client-centered and strengths-based approach, we help students identify their values, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, mood challenges, and relationship concerns. Our goal is not just to help you get through college, but to support you in building skills and self-understanding that will serve you well beyond it.

I believe counseling is about gaining a complete understanding of oneself to connect the dots of why we think, behave, and feel the way we do. Therapy can help one to see the connection and learn skills to change patterns of self-destructive behavior into life fulfilling achievements. Therapy is a safe space to explore the person you are and look at the negative experiences in your life to start the healing process. In therapy we can work together to understand yourself more fully and work towards the goals you determine. Life is not easy and seeking helping can be the first step to making lasting change towards the future you envision. I desire to help you gain the insight into you so that your future is brighter, and you are stronger in knowing who you are. Yes, we all think we have flaws but sometimes what we think are flaws are strengths hidden by biases and once we understand them a whole new perspective is unveiled. The first step is the hardest but after that I will be there for you each step of the process.
I work best with clients who want therapy to feel both meaningful and human. I specialize in supporting LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent people navigating anxiety, trauma, identity, sex and sexuality, and life transitions. My style is collaborative, trauma-informed, and flexible. I pull from multiple different therapy modalities depending on what fits you best. We’ll pay attention to what’s happening in your body, your relationships, and your inner world. I show up with warmth, honesty, and curiosity. I believe that healing happens when people feel safe to be all of themselves: messy, soft, over the top, and everything in between. As a queer therapist, I know how powerful it is to sit across from someone who just gets it. I’m passionate about body liberation, LGBTQ+ rights, and mental health care that doesn’t pathologize people for having feelings. I believe in justice, in community care, and in showing up authentically with the people I serve. I’ve walked through my own healing journey, and that makes me deeply committed to walking beside others in theirs.
Catherine (She/her) As a school social worker for 27 years, I worked with students PreK-12th grade and their families in school and the community. The last 10 years I focused more on the HS level with more personal issues that were affecting students' ability to focus on their classes. I got a reputation as someone who kept their secrets and helped them sort out who they are, esp. around issues of gender disphoria, sexual identity, and depression that frequently accompanies the struggle of self acceptance and showing ones' authentic self to others. College is a tough time for many people. If you think I can help you with this transition, please set up a video conference today. It's as confidential and encrypted as I'm capable to do.
