Therapists for college students near Durham, NC
If you are reading this then I invite you to take a moment to appreciate what you have done. Despite the pain you are in, you have taken an important step toward change. Those whom I work with all have one thing in common—pain. Regardless of its form, nervousness, sadness, substance misuse, difficult thoughts, and/or traumatic memories, attempting to cope with this pain has led to more suffering. There now exists a gap between the life they are living and the one they desire. Life has become about avoiding, numbing, or distracting the pain away. Does this sound like you? If so, know this—you’re not broken, you’re stuck. My approach to stuckness involves working together to explore new methods for interacting with pain, ones that don’t result in more suffering. We will work to cultivate clarity around where you have been and where you’d like to go; giving you a deeper understanding of how to create a rich and meaningful life despite the pain. My counseling draws from a foundation of empathy, positive regard, and congruence. I incorporate ACT, CBT, and CPT into my work. Utilizing various treatment modalities allows me to tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. Add in a healthy dose of metaphors, humor, and hands-on practice to create an experience that is informative and transformational.
Author Shannon Bream inspired the name through her book, The Women of the Bible Speak”, which entails the wisdom of 16 women in the bible and their lessons for today. The book provides a sense of hope and light to the reader. When women of God speak, you’re wise to listen, take notes, and learn. With that being said, it’s my obligation that when I speak, it’s full of wisdom, with expectation to provide hope and reassurance to individuals’ lives and circumstances. The mission of VicNikolSpeaks: Counseling and Wellness, PLLC is to inspire, motivate, uplift, encourage and support all individuals through life’s challenges and transitions. It's time to uproot the unhealthy seeds that were planted by life or people that have caused weeds like hurt, anger, shame, etc. to grow inside of you and replant seeds of healing, love, peace, joy, and freedom. You have the power to replant healing. It’s time to grow! What you water grows! Are you watering seeds of healing or your seeds of hurt? Let’s dig in!
Many of the students I work best with share a common thread: they feel overwhelmed by the transition of college life and want a safe place to sort through it all. Some are managing anxiety, stress, or burnout from balancing classes, work, and relationships. Others are navigating questions of identity, independence, or self-confidence. What they all have in common is a desire for a supportive space where they can be honest about what’s hard and learn tools to feel more grounded. My approach is down-to-earth and collaborative, so if you’re looking for someone who understands the challenges of student life and wants to walk with you through them, you might find a good fit here.
You're likely here because something in your life isn't working for you and you want things to change. You want to get unstuck, you want to let go of the past. You want to live a more meaningful life and have healthy thriving relationships. You want to regain your confidence and to let go of worry and fear. Or, maybe you're tired of feeling frustrated by depression symptoms. Perhaps you are dealing with the effects of trauma. Whatever your story, there is help for you. We are a group of intuitive therapists that have devoted our careers to helping others overcome their challenges. We combine our love of helping others heal and training to help clients recover from past traumatic and stressful experiences. Laura Anthony is not accepting new clients at this time. We at CPWC believe healing is a collaborative endeavor and we are here to assist you on your journey to being free, whole, and happy.

You’re already doing something hard just by being here. Reaching out for support isn’t easy—especially when life feels overwhelming and everything inside you feels tangled. It’s not just one thing. It’s everything. Confusion, stress, heartbreak, fear, loneliness, sadness, anger—sometimes all at once. And when you’ve been through difficult experiences, it makes sense that this has become your normal. But you’re tired of pretending you’re okay. Tired of holding it all together while quietly falling apart. When was the last time you felt present in your own life? Confident in who you are? Or even just able to slow down and take care of yourself without guilt? What if you didn’t have to keep pushing your feelings down or hiding from them? What if you could actually understand them—and feel more at ease in your own mind and body? I specialize in working with young women who feel overwhelmed by life, relationships, and their own thoughts—often shaped by both past and present pain. Together, we create space to process what you’ve been carrying so you can find clarity, steadiness, and a stronger sense of yourself again.

Hi! I have a 5 lb. Maltese and Hunter, my 115 lb. German Shepherd. I grew up on a farm and animals are incredibly important to me. They teach us so much about ourselves and have the capacity to unconditionally love us and at times, they can really challenge us. That's what therapy is all about - unconditional positive regard and pushing us to be our best selves. I work with females; ages pre-teens to adulthood and their families. Anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm behaviors, relational issues, and emotional challenges are among my specialties. I love helping those find their purpose, path, and inspiration!
I approach the therapeutic process with the belief that therapy is simply a human helping a human. By offering an objective and judgement free setting, my hope is to provide a space that offers freedom to share and feel without hesitation. I am a masters-level clinician; I earned a master of science degree in counseling and psychology from Troy University in 2016. I'm a client centered counselor with a passion to help empower individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and tools to work through their presenting problems. I aim to build a therapeutic alliance with my clients and create a safe, judgment-free atmosphere with the hope that they are able to openly explore their thoughts and feelings. I believe in the power of knowledge and it's ability to impact healing and frequently apply psychoeducation into treatment. I'm a strength-based therapist and my overall theoretical orientation is integrative; it commonly includes utilization of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as behavioral and solution-focused techniques. I enjoy working with individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, relationship issues, and various life challenges. I'm happy to currently serve individuals 18+. I'm licensed in NC and SC. I'm also an out-of-state provider for the state of Florida allowing the option for telehealth for clients located in Florida at the time of service. I enjoy working with young people and will help you untangle your thoughts, get in touch with the strongest parts of your inner being, and get back to living life on your own terms. Maybe you find yourself living too much in the past, or too much in the future. Maybe you want to be a better partner, feel optimistic about the future again, and feel like the person you have always imagined yourself to be. Through therapy, we look at ways in which your thoughts and beliefs shape your entire reality, often negatively and unrealistically. In every journey, you need a guide. A guide to navigate the stresses inherent in everyday life.

I love working with adults (age 18 and up) on anxiety, depression, relationship stress, grief, and body image issues. I enjoy educating clients about attachment theory and helping people learn how to cope when their attachment styles are triggered. I have been a therapist since 2017 and bring a lot of experience to my practice. I am very warm and funny, but can be direct when it is appropriate. My goal is to help clients learn in session, so I do provide feedback. I like teaching clients about boundaries and how to effectively communicate them.

My mission is to walk alongside teenage and college-aged women, children, and families on their journey towards health and flourishing. I believe in a holistic approach to counseling that addresses the emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual facets of who we are. As a former student I understand the severe challenges college can bring. I am seeking to care for those struggling with depression, anxiety, self-harm, trauma, life transitions, and personal growth. I desire to be a light in the darkness and a source of hope and comfort for others in their own seasons of struggle. I am also happy to incorporate faith and spirituality in the counseling process upon request. I am a counseling intern under supervision pursuing my Master's degree in Christian Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
