As a psychologist, a father, a husband, a runner, a first Gulf War era Army officer and a former country manager of an American business in Russia, I bring a varied and eclectic style to my work. Trained in marital, family and child therapy, I have worked with clients from childhood into retirement and enjoy the diversity of seeing people at all stages of their lives and development. My goal is to maximize happiness and reduce anxiety and the impediments to truly enjoying your life. To do so, I am happy to see individuals, couples or families, and look forward to seeing you!
Welcome to Unspoken Roots Psychotherapy! My name is Edward Chan, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Unspoken Roots Psychotherapy. I specialize in supporting Asian American college students and young adults as they navigate the unique challenges that can come from balancing personal goals, family expectations, cultural values, and the pressures of academic and professional success. Many Asian American students grow up carrying messages about achievement, responsibility, sacrifice, and making their families proud. While these values can be sources of strength, they can also contribute to anxiety, perfectionism, self-criticism, burnout, difficulty setting boundaries, and a persistent feeling of never being "good enough." You may find yourself succeeding on paper while privately struggling with stress, loneliness, imposter syndrome, or uncertainty about who you are beyond what you accomplish. Therapy offers a space to slow down and explore these experiences without judgment. Together, we can better understand the influences that have shaped you, process the challenges you're facing, and develop practical tools to manage anxiety, build self-confidence, strengthen relationships, and create a life that feels aligned with your own values—not just the expectations placed upon you. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies including CBT, ACT, DBT, and insight-oriented therapy while remaining sensitive to the cultural, familial, and identity-related experiences that many Asian American students navigate. Whether you're struggling with academic pressure, family dynamics, relationships, career decisions, or your sense of belonging, you don't have to carry it alone. At Unspoken Roots Psychotherapy, I strive to create a space where the experiences that often go unspoken can be explored openly, helping you cultivate greater self-understanding, balance, and fulfillment as you navigate college and beyond.

Hey, I’m Laura Fidorowicz. I work with college students who are used to holding it all together—but underneath are dealing with anxiety, burnout, depression, or using substances more than they’d like to cope. A lot of the people I work with are high-achieving and hard on themselves. You might look like you’ve got everything handled, but inside it feels like constant pressure, overthinking, or never quite feeling “good enough.” Maybe you’ve started relying on alcohol or other substances to take the edge off, check out, or just get through the week. My style is real, collaborative, and practical. I’m not here to judge you or lecture you—and I’m definitely not just going to sit quietly while you talk. We’ll actually dig into what’s going on and build tools you can use in real life, whether that’s managing anxiety, breaking perfectionism cycles, or changing your relationship with substances. You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to get support. If something feels off, that’s enough. If you’re ready for a space where you can be honest, feel understood, and start making real changes, I’d love to work with you.
When I retired from professional ballet, I attended Princeton University for my undergraduate studies. I started going to therapy and found it helped me participate more fully in my life and find more joy in my experience of college. My interest in mental health led me to study social work at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by sport psychology in Scotland, as a Fulbright scholar. I enjoy working with a variety of people, including athletes/artists/performers navigating transitions and retirement.

Are you struggling with your relationships with others? Do you ever feel like you’re too much or too sensitive? Ever feel like your brain may work differently then what society says is “normal”? Struggling with your relationship with sex, sexuality, and/or gender identity? I support you in working towards self acceptance and emotional regulation. I’ve spent a majority of my career working with young adults in transitional and transformative periods of their life, but I feel comfortable working with a wide range of ages and experiences. I have extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and provide gender-affirming care. I am also sex positive, kink friendly, and poly-aware with a goal to provide a judgement free space to explore these topics. I’m warm, patient, non-judgmental, and sometimes a little bit funny. I appreciate the ability to slow things down and approach therapeutic work at the speed you need it to be. I’m a health psychologist who helps people break the cycle between life stress and physical health problems. Stress, burnout, and emotional strain can lead to poor sleep, weight gain, high blood pressure, and difficulty managing conditions like diabetes or chronic illness. At the same time, health issues can affect your mood, relationships, motivation, and daily habits. I use evidence-based approaches — including CBT, ACT, and motivational interviewing — to help people shift unhelpful thought patterns, manage emotions, and make sustainable changes in how they care for themselves. Whether you're navigating a new diagnosis or struggling to stick with a health plan, I work collaboratively to create a personalized strategy that fits your real life. My goal is to help patients feel more in control of their health and well-being — not just physically, but emotionally and behaviorally.
