Welcome to Groundwork Counseling & Wellness! We are a private counseling practice in Central PA offering in-person and telehealth appointments with a particular focus on anxiety, depression and life transitions. Both of our providers have previously worked in a college counseling center and have expertise working with college students.
I received my M.S. In Counseling from Villanova University and pursued doctoral studies at Immaculata University. In 1994 I became a licensed psychologist and opened my own private practice in Wayne, PA. I have been an adjunct professor at Chestnut Hill College in their graduate psychology department. I completed advanced studies in Jungian psychology at the C. G. Jung Institute in Philadelphia. In 1997 I became a certified Imago Relationship therapist where my goal was to assist couples in having more conscious, loving and intimate relationships. Central to my work is a powerful self-discovery tool … the Enneagram in which I received training in 2001. I use it extensively with clients as well as outside groups where I give presentations and teach classes on the Enneagram including volunteer teaching of the Enneagram at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. In 2014 I received my certification in coaching through the Coaches Training Institute. I since have developed a coaching practice to complement the work I do in the therapeutic and counseling areas. In addition, I also give presentations and talks for married couples, parent associations, support groups, and health and wellness audiences.
I love working with young adults who are motivated to improve their relationship with themselves and others. I specialize in relationship concerns, anxiety, stress, trauma, PTSD, sexual assault, and emotional abuse. I am a collaborative therapist that will work with you to determine the type of therapy that will best meet your needs. I offer various modalities such as EMDR, emotion-focused therapy, art therapy, cognitive, and relational approaches.
I often work with clients who have anxiety or depression about school or work or relationships. They may have relationship problems with friends or romantic partners or struggle with social anxiety or school performance anxiety. Some of my clients are dealing with divorce or are couples trying to work through issues in their relationships including poor communication or affairs.
Dr. (Dee) E. Littleton is a compassionate, empathetic, and engaging therapist whose approach is collaborative and supportive, while challenging clients to meet their therapeutic goals. She believes in the importance of fostering a safe, secure environment in which clients feel comfortable sharing their vulnerabilities. She loves to collaborate with clients to utilize their strengths in order to best guide them through the unique challenges they are facing. Dee takes a systemic approach to her work with individuals, couples, and families. Dee also works with clergy and is able to coach or offer systemic supervision. Give me a call and we can have a free 20 minute session to see if I can help. Please feel free to interview me and let me know what is helpful for your therapy.

Queer enough? Babe, you're overqualified. If you're questioning it, you probably already know the answer. Queerness isn't a checklist or a vibe check. You don't need a membership card, you are already in. Out of the entire LGBTQIA+ community, folks like bi, pan, genderfluid, and nonbinary people are often seen as "less queer" - yet we face the highest rates of gender/sex based anxiety and depression. The double-closet effect - feeling invisible to both straight and queer spaces - makes it harder to feel seen, heard, and valid. No matter the mental health symptom, for queer people, healing starts with feeling validated and affirmed. I help queer folks who struggle to feel like they belong (including in LGBTQIA+ spaces) embrace their identity, trust their "enoughness," find calm through adversity, and conquer life stress, relationship trauma, and anxiety. I'm here for your fluidity, your bisexuality (no matter the gender of your partner), your polyamory, your transness. Welcome home. Healing starts with being in a space where you don't have to explain or prove yourself. We don't have to focus exclusively on queerness in your sessions, but you will never have to wonder if it's accepted and understood. Whether stress, relationship trauma, or anxiety, we'll focus on what matters to you. When you're ready, I'm here.
Most people in your life would be surprised to know that you have internal struggles because you hide it well, but deep down inside you feel unfulfilled and unhappy. While some areas of your life are good, other areas never seem to improve no matter how hard you work on them. There seems to be this pattern of behavior that constantly gets in your way. It appears as if something is always holding you back, you feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward. You want to learn how to love and accept yourself and improve the quality of your relationships, starting with the relationship with yourself. We will work together to help you develop healthy habits and new ways of thinking. My goal is to partner with you as you become more self-aware, confident, and courageous. I am passionate about helping you to create a more loving and helpful attitude towards yourself and others so that you can have the life you dream of.
I use client-first approach in my work. Whether you’re a young person feeling overwhelmed, a couple looking to reconnect, or an individual working toward body acceptance, I see you. In therapy, I blend kindness, humor, and warmth to create a space where you can feel heard. Together, we’ll build tools to manage anxiety, depression, and change— finding light even in some of our toughest moments.
With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, I am passionate about supporting young adults as they navigate life’s transitions and pursue meaningful growth. Whether you are a college student or recent graduate adjusting to a new season of life, an individual facing anxiety or depression, or a couple preparing for marriage or working to strengthen your relationship, I strive to provide guidance that feels both supportive and practical. My Christian faith shapes my personal values; however, I work with people from all backgrounds and beliefs. Faith-based perspectives are incorporated into counseling only if a client specifically desires it. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. Life transitions—whether expected or unexpected—can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Together, we can explore the challenges you are facing and work toward the emotional and personal goals that matter most to you. I specialize in working with adults experiencing life changes, including college and post-college transitions, and relationship challenges. I also support individuals navigating anxiety, depression, and stress that often accompany these seasons of change.
As a young adult, you often wonder what can be done to help yourself feel better. You have tried many things yet there has been little to no lasting improvement. Your personality has changed, you have challenges with relationships, their interests have decreased and you worry that things might get worse. You know that you have great potential to do great things but the way things are going, your future looks bleak. Seeking help can be scary, because you want to make sure that you have someone but feel scared about taking the risk of letting anyone in. Imagine what it would feel like not to constantly worry about so many things all of the time and feel confident about making decisions about everyday tasks. You would feel better about yourself and your ability to handle difficult situations that arise. In order to accommodate your schedule, I offer evening and weekend appointments so you don't have to worry about missing school. Together, we'll create a customized plan to get you back on track. Are you overwhelmed but feel like family and friends don't really understand? Are you exhausted from scrolling through confusing TikTok advice on how your mental health should be? Navigating everyday life while we try to heal from our past and managing our present can feel isolating... and sometimes it’s hard to know where to turn for non-judgmental support. I offer a safe space where together, we can explore and gain insight into your needs and your path to emotional peace. Whether you're struggling with relationships, stress, past trauma, there is hope with finding your sense of balance. I have an eclectic background of professional experience! I started out working in field of substance abuse, then went into hospital social work, which led me to home hospice work. I did some home-based services with children and families, and then landed in private practice where I feel very grateful for what I get to do as a therapist! I have several years experience counseling at a small liberal arts college with college students with many different presenting issues., such as first gen issues, anxiety, stress, ADHD, over-drinking, family conflicts, relationship struggles, and depression, to name a few. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) which has now become my therapeutic intervention of choice! I use a holistic approach considering mind, body, and spirit in all aspects of the treatment approach. I do often offer groups called Processing Pain, a spiritual formation group, as well as a healthy weight loss/self esteem group! I do offer a non-denominational, Christian-based approach to students with whom this is important to.
