Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
Are you navigating your identity now that you don't live at home anymore? Are you trying to heal from a difficult upbringing and break patterns that your family created? Are you struggling to navigate how to be in a healthy relationship currently? My clients find value in working with me by learning about how to disrupt negative patterns from their childhood and discover who they are and want to be moving forward.
Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not like yourself. You might notice overthinking, anxiety, low motivation, or feeling easily triggered, even when you’re trying your best to keep up with school and life. Sometimes these patterns are connected to past experiences that haven’t been fully processed. I specialize in working with college students using EMDR, mindfulness, and creative approaches to help you move through stress and unresolved experiences in a deeper, more lasting way. Rather than just managing symptoms, we’ll work together to understand what’s underneath them and help your mind and body process what’s been holding you back. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Therapy is active and supportive, helping you feel more grounded, more in control, and better able to navigate school, relationships, and daily life with greater ease and confidence.

We encourage individuals to face their own ambivalence to process the uncomfortable topics brought out in therapy through artistic introspection. The best way to provide you the appropriate space for change is meeting you where you are as it pertains to your journey for change. We have each worked in various settings within the mental health community including residential treatment, acute inpatient, alternative and regular education, in-home based counseling, and most recently private practice serving children, adolescents, adults, families, and individuals in relationships. As we journey through life, there are times our travel becomes weary. We may feel lost, plagued by doubt, or burdened by uncertainty. Yet we are strong, resilient, and determined. We simply need a guide to help us discover the path forward. That is where Forward Path Counseling can help. We have assembled a team of therapists that offer a complementary set of skills and training, each with unique specialties that fit together so we can offer a well balanced treatment approach to many of the challenges life might present. This offers our clients the opportunity, when it is necessary, to receive coordinated treatment from multiple professionals all within the same practice. As well as peace of mind knowing that, which ever therapist they might be working with, that therapist is collaborating and gaining insight from a larger team of professionals so they might receive the fullest possible care.
For nearly 20 years, I have worked with adolescents and young adults who have anxiety, mood disorders, gender identity issues, family conflicts and trauma from many different backgrounds. There is no single case that is identical to another, and everyone has their own unique story. I want to hear your story so that I may join your journey to heal. My main approaches are CBT, Family Systems Theory, EMDR, and somatic approaches. I also incorporate Eastern philosophy and focus on the mind-body connection to assist clients in understanding their challenges and rediscovering their authentic selves. As a person who came to the United States as a teen, I personally understand the pressure to succeed, the challenges to navigate the US college system, and the loneliness that limited resources and guidance that first generation college students go through. I have also advocated for people of color and the LGTBQ+ population in an effort to improve equality and deal with human rights issues many years. I strive to provide a safe environment for all of my clients without judgment. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I am an LCSW with a private practice offering outpatient psychotherapy in Pa. Furnace, PA. I primarily offer teletherapy sessions but occasionally meet with clients face to face, mostly in outdoor settings. I have been practicing since 2011 and accept students, community members, and others within the state of PA. I specialize in individual therapy, though I also have experience with couples. I usually use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness framework, though many other therapeutic approaches are used as well depending on the needs of the client. As a social worker, I also offer a fair amount of casework for clients who need access to academic, employment, housing, medical, legal, and other kinds of community resources. Over the years I have found that I develop an excellent working relationship with a wide variety of clients, but particularly so with clients presenting with concerns centered on their existential and spiritual concerns as well as on their relationship with the natural world.
