Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a core faculty member for nine years at Capella University-graduate and doctoral programs in Social Work and Public Service Leadership. Outside of work, Dr. Ed enjoys traveling to Barbados, Cancun, Houston Rodeo, is active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan. College-age young adults experience their own unique challenges. In a time of new independence and exploration, there can be a lot of pressure and expectations on young adults to have their lives “figured out”. You may experience difficulties adjusting to a new environment and the challenges that come with that, such as moving away from home, managing your college course load, making friends, etc. Young adulthood also brings about new responsibilities related to school, work/career, and finances, like maintaining your own schedule and paying bills. Many of the college students I work with are dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, relationship issues, stress management, among other challenges. I provide young adult clients with the space to process and unpack their challenges, establish a trustworthy therapeutic relationship, and support them in building up their ability to cope with stress, understand their emotions, and meet their needs.
If you are trying to figure out who you are and where you’re headed, you are not alone. This stage of life can feel exciting one minute and overwhelming the next. You might look like you have it together on the outside, but inside you are stressed, anxious, burned out, or unsure of yourself. The students I work best with are thoughtful, self-aware, and trying hard to “do things right.” You care about your future. You want meaningful relationships. You want to succeed. But you may also feel pressure from family, academics, social media, or your own expectations. Maybe you overthink everything. Maybe you procrastinate and then criticize yourself for it. Maybe you feel lonely even when you are surrounded by people. Some of the students I work with are: -Adjusting to college life or struggling with the transition -Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly “on edge” -Navigating identity questions around career, relationships, culture, or sexuality -Recovering from a breakup or friendship shift -Dealing with perfectionism or fear of failure -Questioning whether they’re “good enough” In our work together, we create space to slow down and really listen to what’s going on beneath the surface. Therapy is something we build together, a place to be honest, ask hard questions, and try new ways of coping. We will make sense of what you’re feeling, practice tools to manage stress and self-doubt, and help you move toward a life that feels more grounded and more like your own. You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to reach out. If you’are willing to show up as you are, we can start from there.
Do you feel on edge, stuck in your head, or like you can’t fully connect with the people you care about? Maybe your chest tightens in conflict, or you shut down when things get too overwhelming. These are signs your nervous system is in overdrive—and it’s not your fault. Through integrative somatic and creative therapies, I’ll help you tune into your body, calm your system, and feel safer in yourself and your relationships.

You might struggle with a harsh inner critic, where anything less than perfection feels like failure, causing you to question your self-worth. This can lead to persistent feelings of guilt, shame, or inadequacy. The definition of success you inherited may not align with your desires, creating cognitive dissonance and internal conflict. You may have a path you want to follow for your life, but fear disappointing those around you, or you may struggle to define your goals at all. You deserve a therapist who understands your story. Former software engineer turned therapist, I understand pressures of high expectations and stressful environments. As a first-generation immigrant with 8 years in IT, multiple degrees, and clinical experience, I offer a unique cultural and psychological perspective. Together, we'll move beyond perfectionism and negative self-talk to find strength and joy. Our cultures of origin are beautiful, but they have unique challenges. As a South Asian therapist, I empathize deeply with your struggles. I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, and I love creating a warm and calming environment where you can be confident you will be understood and accepted. I provide respectful, understanding therapy to support you in living your best life. Whether you’re navigating relationship struggles, communication challenges, depression, anxiety, or the weight of “overthinking,” I’m here to help. I work with couples, adolescents, adults, and LGBTQ+ clients through secure telehealth sessions, offering a flexible and confidential space for healing. My background as a PhD Developmental Psychologist, LMFT (Lic. 203700), and my experience with bipolar disorder, addiction, abuse, and crisis situations allow me to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to your needs.
My ideal client is someone navigating a significant life transition—whether it’s entering a new phase of life, adjusting to a career shift, or healing after the end of a relationship, or starting a new one. They may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from themselves and others. They often appear high-functioning on the outside but internally struggle with self-doubt, perfectionism, or emotional exhaustion. Their needs often include learning how to manage stress, set healthy boundaries, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen relationships. I have 13 years of experience and am licensed in three states. My approach to therapy is rooted in compassion, presence, and collaboration. I draw primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based practices to help clients build psychological flexibility, develop deeper self-awareness, and move toward a more values-driven life. I believe that healing begins in the context of a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Therapy is a shared process, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to show up and be vulnerable. My role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance and insight.
