Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
In today’s fast-paced world, many people are expected to keep pushing forward while quietly carrying the emotional and physical burden of chronic illness. I am passionate about supporting individuals navigating chronic health conditions and the psychological challenges that often accompany them, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational distress, and disenfranchised grief. I believe in a holistic path to healing; a path where the mind, body and spirit is embraced in the work that we will do together. I primarily use a combination of IFS, mindfulness, SE, hypnotherapy, CBT, ACT, and narrative therapies. Over the last 20 years I have worked extensively in a variety of healthcare settings including long-term care, hospice, and an acute care hospital setting. Recently, I worked as a medical social worker in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic where I supported patients and their loved ones in navigating the unknown. I also have experience in supporting those who suffer from more rare illnesses including autoimmune diseases, multiple chemical sensitivities, mast cell activation syndrome, chronic inflammatory response syndrome, and chronic Lyme. Working in a variety of healthcare settings has provided me with a unique lens into the many needs and adversities that individuals encounter in the US healthcare system. Through my experiences I have seen firsthand how connected our minds and bodies are, which led me to study interventions and techniques that can help manage a multitude of symptoms such as anxiety, pain, GI distress, and much more. I also have additional training in trauma-informed care and am now a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I work hard to find the right combination of therapeutic interventions to meet each individual's needs.

I work best with people who are curious about understanding themselves and the experiences that have shaped them. Many of the students and clients I support are navigating anxiety, stress, relationships, identity, career questions, major life decisions, or feeling unsure about their next steps. In addition to being a counselor, I am a psychology and career development educator. I regularly work with college students exploring their strengths, values, goals, and the question many of us face during transitions: “Who am I, and where do I want to go from here?” My approach is collaborative and human. Together, we explore your story with curiosity rather than criticism, better understand patterns, reconnect with your strengths and values, and build practical tools to help you move forward with more intention.

You might be a student who looks like you have it together but feels anxious, burned out, or disconnected underneath. Maybe the pressure of classes, relationships, or figuring out who you are is heavier than you expected. Maybe you're navigating a big transition, far from home for the first time, or just noticing that the way you've always coped isn't working anymore. In therapy, we'll slow down, get curious about what's really going on, and build skills that help you feel more like yourself. I draw from a variety of approaches — including body-based techniques, mindfulness, and talk therapy — to tailor our work to what you actually need. You don't have to have it all figured out to start. You just have to show up.

I focus on working with clients to recognize your inherent worthiness at work and within relationships, build trust in your inner wisdom, and integrate mindfulness and spirituality into your daily life. Whether you are coming out of a painful breakup, redefining your career path, navigating how to ask for what you need in partnership, or creating a kinder relationship with yourself, our work together can help you build self-confidence, self-awareness, and stress management techniques. My ideal client is someone who wants to embody their creative side, is curious about spirituality, and longs to step into their greatness. I specialize in mindfulness as a tool to build a more loving relationship with yourself. I bring an integrated head (concrete exercises you can practice between sessions) and heart (deeper understanding of self and how to relate differently with your thoughts and feelings) approach. If you’ve been thinking, “I want to trust myself. I want to trust my intuition/inner knowing. I want to love myself wholeheartedly - on the days I feel powerful and the days I feel small. I want to embody the badass human I was born to be.”- This work is for you.

I am a therapist specializing in a wide range of concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, identity issues, LGBTQIA+ identity and relationships, life transitions, men's health, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual health, stress management, and student mental health — working with patients of all ages. With more than eight years of experience in direct care mental health settings and a background as a former educator, I bring a unique perspective to the therapeutic relationship. I believe that healing is a collaborative process and am committed to working alongside people from all walks of life to help you navigate your challenges and discover solutions that are right for you. My practice is founded on evidence-based and integrative modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), humanistic, and collaborative approaches. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method, I tailor therapy to meet you where you are. My goal is to create a space where processing your experiences, build new understanding, and work toward meaningful goals all come together, so that every session moves you forward in a way that feels both grounded and purposeful. My path to becoming a therapist grew naturally out of my work as an educator. Many of my former students sought me out specifically, recognizing that they needed someone to direct and honest with them about their patterns and behaviors. Being surrounded by therapists throughout that time, I found myself continually inspired by the depth and impact of their work. That inspiration led me here. Today, I bring that same directness into the therapy room, helping you explore how your feelings and emotions connect to your history and how patterns, often without our awareness. By shining a light on those cycles, we can begin to understand them and, together, find a new way forward. Outside of the office, you can find me practicing hot yoga, spending time outdoors, playing video games, making art, or catching up on reality TV. These varied interests keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of joy, creativity, and rest, all values I bring into my work with you.
You and your life isn’t one note. You are multifaceted and the demands you face happen to be as well – particularly when you are a student. Currently, the sound-track of your life has moved away from the sounds of a harmonious symphony -or maybe from an upbeat pop song- to something more unnerving and stressful (like the alarm you use to wake up to in the morning or the background music in a horror film—building tension, bracing yourself from some known or unknown threat). It makes sense that life has been overwhelming -increased responsibilities and life demands alone would contribute to this feeling. Add fears about the future, a recent breakup, challenging relationship dynamics with family, and/or other stressors and you might find yourself tipping the scales of your emotional bandwidth. I help students focus on the unique aspects of their lives that are no longer serving them – with empathy, tools, problem-solving, and emotional healing and growth. I believe you can have a richer and higher-quality of life– free from the overwhelming influence of your current life demands, harmful past experiences, poor modeling, and environmental toxicities (psychological). Therapy can help you make sense of all of it—and give you the tools to move forward with clarity and confidence. I’m a licensed therapist in Colorado with over 30 years of experience working with young adults. I help people who feel overwhelmed, stressed, stuck, or unsure of who they are or where they’re headed. I also support clients in breaking free from unhealthy or addictive patterns—whether that’s substances, social media, gaming, or other habits that have started to take over. My approach is real, down-to-earth, and supportive. I’ll help you understand what’s going on emotionally, mentally, physically, and in your relationships—and together we’ll work on practical strategies for change. Some sessions will be about insight and reflection, others will focus on action and new tools. You set the pace, and I help you get where you want to go. If you’re in this stage of life and want support that meets you where you are, I’d be honored to work with you.
