Feeling Overwhelmed by the News Cycle? Struggling with the stressors of balancing school, work and personal life? You're Not Alone — Let's Navigate It Together. In today’s world, the constant stream of political unrest, and distressing headlines can leave even the most resilient among us feeling anxious, hopeless, or emotionally exhausted. If you’re finding it hard to unplug, sleep, or focus — you're not overreacting. You're responding to real stress, and you don’t have to face it alone. As a licensed therapist, I specialize in helping individuals process the emotional toll of living through turbulent times. Hi! My name is Pamela Riley. I am a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience across primary care, urgent care, and mental health. I completed advanced psychiatric training and have a strong clinical foundation built through years of ICU work and clinic leadership roles. My approach centers on thorough assessment, evidence-based medication management, and compassionate, holistic mental health care. I understand how overwhelming anxiety, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, and other mental health symptoms can be. My goal is to create a supportive, judgment-free space where you feel heard and understood. Whether you’re new to psychiatric care or seeking ongoing medication management, we’ll work together toward clarity, stability, and lasting relief. If you’re looking for a psychiatric provider who listens, collaborates, and personalizes your care, I’m here to help. I offer timely appointments, thoughtful follow-up, and treatment plans that fit your life. Together, we’ll work toward meaningful progress and improved mental well-being.
I work with adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression or have been through tough times and want to heal from trauma. College specifically can be a difficult time emotionally, moving into adulthood and living on your own for the first time. Therapy can be a great way to process these changes, learn new ways to cope with stress, and get resources and support. I'd love to chat.
Charlie Health is a virtual behavioral health program for adolescents and young adults with moderate or severe mental health concerns or co-occurring substance use or eating disorders. Designed to meet the needs of those who require more than weekly therapy, our program combines curated group therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy into personalized treatment programs. We are helping to serve those who are in crisis, or have been historically underserved, by eliminating the most significant treatment barriers: geographical and financial access. We work with nearly all commercial insurance nationwide and have no waitlist, thereby helping people access quality, evidence-based care regardless of insurance, location, or other barriers.
I work with teens and emerging adults who feel overwhelmed by expectations and often leave conversations thinking, “No one really gets me,” or, “Why is it so hard to be around people?” If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I use a range of evidence-based approaches to help you gain insight into your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify patterns that are holding you back, uncover emotional triggers, and develop tools that help you build confidence, resilience, and self-compassion. Therapy with me is collaborative, flexible, and centered on your goals. We’ll create a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs, which might include mindfulness work, emotional regulation strategies, or understanding how past experiences shape your present.

When I began college it was 8 years after high school and I was married. I was anxious that I may not be able to get the degrees that I wanted after being out of school for so long, but I was experiencing childlessness and wanted to be a mother. Keeping busy was something that I needed due to major depression. We did not have free college opportunities then, so I had to make the grades in order to finance this endeavor. This became a goal which required good study habits and commitment. I attended a community college first, then UTC, and then I completed my masters at Grand Canyon University with a 4.0 GPA. This paid for all of the undergraduate work but not for my Master's, which landed me in debt, but I survived. I work best with students who are trying to figure out who they are underneath all the expectations placed on them. You might be navigating shifts in your identity, exploring your gender or sexuality, or just feeling like an outsider looking for your people. If you often feel like you have to "perform" to fit in, or if you are struggling to build genuine connections while away at school, we will likely work well together.
I help teens/adults who struggle with anxiety and low self-esteem feel confident in themselves, improve ability to socialize with others, and cope with uncomfortable feelings.
College, graduate school, and early adulthood can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions about your identity, or the pressure to keep up academically while managing everything else in your life. For some students, adjusting to life away from home, navigating independence, or recovering from difficult experiences such as trauma, sexual assault, or substance use concerns can make this time especially challenging. At Modern Talk, we specialize in working with college students, graduate students, and emerging adults. Our clinicians understand the unique demands of this stage of life and have extensive experience helping students navigate both everyday stressors and more complex emotional challenges. Several members of our team have worked within university counseling settings, including New York University's Wellness Exchange, supporting students through academic, social, and personal transitions. Whether you're looking for support during a difficult period, trying to better understand yourself, or hoping to build healthier coping skills and relationships, we're here to help. We provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and develop tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.
